The new season begins at a familiar venue. DTRI travels with its competition team to Mystic, CT for the Access Broadway regional, set to make Access Broadway History.
After an intense early December with Holiday Show prep and rehearsals, dancers were given some time off. Late in December, rehearsals resumed night and day until the DTRI circle night tradition on the Thursday before competition.
Friday afternoon the dancers were primed and ready to take the stage by storm. Solo dancers performed late into the evening Friday night and early Saturday morning. Group routines began a hectic Saturday evening at 3 and ran straight until midnight. Sunday morning duos, trios and mini groups performed.
When all the dust settled, routines were executed, judged, and scores tallied, Dance Theatre was set to make Access Broadway History. Having received the highest honors the previous two seasons at this regional, "Best Dance Studio" DTRI was poised to make it an unprecedented third year in a row receiving this prestigious honor.
At the final awards show and after a weekend of high scores, Broadway stars, platinum medals and trophies, the announcement was made. DTRI had done it, completing the first 3-pete in Access Broadway History. Check out the Access Broadway face book page for video highlights:
